The bracelet is an ornament worn on the wrist or forearm sometimes they are worn on both arms or two or more at the same time.  They have been worn by men and women since  primitive times.  It is believed that the first bracelets were made of bone, coral or ivory.  Bracelets were worn by Egyptians, Greeks and Romans.  Sometimes they were set with gemstones and coins.  Bracelets were popular articles of Etruscan and Anglo-Sacxon jewelry.  They  were less used in the Middle Ages and Renaissance due to the long sleeves that were worn, however, they were revived in the 18^th and 19^th century.  In the Victorian era they were part of the mourning  jewelry often made with hair.
